After speaking with Ms. Case and asking her some initial questions I have some topics that I want to explore a litlle further. The first topic I would like to explore more is her collaboration on projects with co-workers. She does more collaboration than I had first thought. She works quite a bit with engineeers in order to make information that she is going to release to various publics more understandable. She also works quite a bit with a graphic designer for a number of projects. For brochures and flyers Ms. Case writes the copy while the graphic designer comes up with the pictures and designs needed. For the website Ms. Case also writes the copy while the graphic designer designs the page.

I would like to go more in depth with Ms. Case about the particular audiences that she writes for. She writes for more audiences that I had originally thought. She provided me with a brochure that had been written to distribute to young girls in middle school in order to interest them in science before they have lost interest. This is an audience that I never would have thought that she would be writing for. She also writes pamphlets and brochures for high school students. She writes speeches for other WVU employees, so she is then writing for their audiences as well.

Also I would like to explore the reasons for her writing. She writes pieces for reputation management, for informational purposes, for press releases, but she does more marketing writing that I expected. It really isn't that much of a surprise once she told me this, but I hadn't initially thought about it. She writes these pieces in order to attract middle school and high school students to the college of Engineering when they graduate and also to attract students from other parts of the country to come here to study.
